Gabs Pather

Director / Principal Architect

Gabs Pather (Director) has worked on a variety of projects ranging from retail, sports, institutional, commercial and residential. He has expertise in design & documentation of large scale projects and has been intensely involved with the Cape Town Stadium and Precinct project in preparation for the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup. He has lectured at both UCT and CPUT and has previously served as vice-chairperson and general secretary for SABTACO – Western Cape.

Khalied Jacobs

Director / Principal Urban Designer

Khalied Jacobs (Director) drives Jakupa’s urban design portfolio and has been responsible for innovations in urban design methodology and practice. He is an urbanist at heart with a deep interest in contemporary city-making and has shaped his career through interrogating the everyday experience in our cities. He has used his experience in academia to influence his method of practice and has shaped his design philosophies through experimentation.

Kalpana Mistry

Architect

Kalpana joined Jakupa in 2019 after graduating from the University of Witwatersrand in 2018 with a Masters in architecture, she has been involved in various projects that include government social housing, building refurbishments and various extensions and developments. Working from sketch design to construction drawings. This provides a platform to develop her professional and technical skills in order to become a professional in the field at a later stage.

Sadaka Jaffar

Architectural Technologist

Sadaka Jaffar re-joined Jakupa in 2011 as an architectural technologist after completing his National Diploma in Architectural Technology at CPUT. Sadaka has worked on a variety of projects ranging from low cost housing to upmarket residential as well as larger scaled projects such as retail, commercial and institutional buildings.

Robert Gubb

Urban Designer / Professional Architect

Robert is a registered Professional Architect and landscape architect. His role in the office is as an urban designer and architect. He is passionate about the confluence of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture, with an emphasis on an integrated, collaborative and holistic design and management approach. This interest has evolved through a commitment to society and environment, a love for nature, and a passion for design in the built environment.

Vimala Pather

Financial Manager

Vimala Pather Vimala Pather has been the financial administrator for Jakupa since 2005 and is responsible for the financial functions of the company. Her tasks also include Human Resource Management and she oversees the Staff Wellness functions within the team.

Tanya Moodaley

Architect

Tanya Moodaley Tanya Moodaley joined Jakupa in 2017 as a candidate architect after completing her Master’s degree at UCT. She is gaining first-hand experience as project architect on a number of projects ranging from upmarket housing to medium-to-high density student housing as well as commercial and institutional developments. Tanya aspires to officially qualify as a professional architect and explore sustainable architecture.

Colin Daniels

Senior Architectural Technologist

Colin joined the Jakupa family in August 2023 as a Senior Architectural Technologist. He has a National Diploma in Architecture from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. His fields of interest is in retail architecture and he has worked on shopping malls around the country as well as tenants services coordination. During his time at Jakupa Colin wishes to improve his Revit skills; familiarize himself with aspects of the industry that are missing and impart his knowledge to the younger generation.

Nicholas Hudson

Architect

Nicholas joined the Jakupa family in November 2023 as an Architect. He obtained his Masters degree in Architecture from the University of Pretoria in 2022. His dissertation explored alternative upgrading processes within informal settlements, and the role that the architect has to play. He believes that through collaborative design that merges global and local knowledge, innovative and sustainable models for the built environment can begin to surface. During his time at Jakupa, Nic hopes to gain practical experience and further his knowledge on what his responsibility as a spatial agent is within our current urban fabric.

Raiyaanah Begg-Hendricks

Architectural Technologist

Meet Raiyaanah! She has a Bachelor of Architectural Technology from Cape Peninsula University of Technology which she completed in 2019 as well as a BA Honours in Environment Management completed in 2022. Her interest lie in sustainable design in built environment with the addition of AI and to create inclusive design using ergonomic and ecocentric design intent. She has experience working on large scale commercial facilities, medical facilities, social housing as well as residential projects. While at JAKUPA she intends to develop her design and software skills as well as her knowledge of South African – based construction procedures.

Saliegh Davis

Architect

Saliegh joined Jakupa in 2021 after completing his undergraduate degree in architecture at UCT. He gained experience in various commercial, public, and social projects. Motivated by this experience, he pursued further qualifications in Honours and Masters at UCT with the support of the Jakupa Bursary Program. His Masters thesis focused on the transformative potential of transport systems, aiming to enable incremental growth, create urban character, and offer residents opportunities. Recognising that access to a city's opportunities is a fundamental right, Saliegh believes planning and transportation can address the structural fragmentation in cities like Cape Town.

Reza Lawrence

Architectural Technologist

Reza joined the Jakupa family in September 2023 as an Architectural Technologist. He obtained his National Diploma in Architectural Technology from CPUT. His interests in the field of Architecture lie in the technological advancement to complete projects. During his time at Jakupa, Reza intends on mastering Revit within the BIM360 environment and learning as much as possible about Sustainable Architecture.

Samantha Aserman

Urban Designer

Samantha joined the Jakupa family in November 2023 as an Urban Designer. She obtained her Master of Architecture at WITS in 2016 as well as a Master of Architecture degree from KU Leuven in 2023. She finds interest in people-centric design that looks towards the future. She intends to learn to implement change through spatial intervention while merging theory and practice during her time at Jakupa.

Andre Spies

Senior Architect

Andre joined the Jakupa family in December 2023 as Senior Architect. He obtained his BArch degree from the University of Cape Town. His variety of interests in the Architectural field include Housing (Social and BNG), Public (Health) as well as Commercial (Mixed-use) architecture. During his time at Jakupa, Andre hopes to work in a large and vibrant team on a variety of architectural and urban design projects.

Tasneem Fredericks

Office Management

Tasneem joined JAKUPA in June as our Office Manager. She has a Bachelors in both Psychology and Political Science from the University of the Western Cape. She ensures that all onboarding processes adhere to internal standards and regulatory requirements. She ensures that all documentation is up to date, collaborating with the compliance team to resolve any issues. While at JAKUPA, she would like to gain exposure to project management skills and understand how they are applied in the Architectural Practice.
